Protective Elements

Envelopment is the key direction for Fall 11 as spinners work not only towards an obvious blown and comfort aspect in spongy and fancy yarns, but also introduced micro fine featherweights that shift from intimate apparel through to ready-to-wear.

A textural touch is achieved through enveloping constructions as pile fabrics and spongy knits embrace the body. Cut pile and embossed raised surfaces offer a sense of comfort and warmth featuring in both the knitwear sector and wovens.

The urge for brilliance maintains its hold, in traditional metallic tones used in allover applications or through blending. While metallics continue and show no sign of disappearing, new for the season is the glossy wet look aspects and pearlised finishes that are set to take a hold.

Both bi and mono stretch feature throughout, bringing comfort and performance to the wearer, especially with streamlined silhouettes predicted to continue for the season. But most important of all is the spinners and mills who are promoting ‘responsible production,’ whether or not they use eco fibers in providing environmentally conscious yarns and fabrics no matter what the content.
